Picture The World, Hong Kong
Marooned on a traffic island, I pause for a moment as the neon lights reflect off the double-decker buses in a dazzling blur of colour. Free-wheeling, raw, and packed with an unquenchable energy, Hong Kong is a bite-sized assault on the senses. A powerful work ethic and can-do attitude has transformed the ‘Fragrant Harbour’ into a burgeoning metropolis, containing more than 6,400 skyscrapers and seven million souls. It is after nightfall that this city really comes into its own, a tangible presence in the movies of homegrown directors like Wong Kar-Wai.
My gratitude goes to Madhu of The Urge to Wander for handing me this honour. I am nominating Lucy of loca4motion for her brilliant captures on living in Guatemala, and Nicole of thirdeyemom for the profound insights on her round-the-world travels. You don’t need to be nominated to take part in the project – go here to make a contribution and get the ball rolling.
Wow, you guys are quick!
Lovely capture James. The neon lights certainly reflect modern Hong Kong…pun intended 🙂
Thanks, Madhu! This was one of those shots that came and went in a split second – fortunately my camera reacted just in time!
James, more fabulous photos! I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger’s Award. Details can be found on my blog – timetobeinspired.wordpress.com – just wanted you to know how much I enjoy your blog.
Wow Terri, thank you for the nomination! The timing is just right as the next post will be on a small handful of blogger awards.
well deserved.
Ahhh I miss Hong Kong!! can’t wait to go back sometime 🙂
When you do, drop me a message and I will be more than happy to take you around. 😀
Yayy! Thank you James 😀
Wait. Did you take this while driving?
Nope, I was standing on a tram stop in the middle of the road!
Riiiiiiiight 😉
I kid you not! 😛 That’s how we do tram stops over here.
And I was using zoom…
haha ok fine.
The stations around here are a little less glamorous… especially during commuting hours.
